I'm an experienced Quality & Operations professional transitioning into AI consultancy. I'm building expertise in data science and machine learning while drawing on three decades of hands-on experience in quality management and manufacturing operations. I'm passionate about making AI accessible and understandable—helping individuals and small businesses navigate their own AI journeys, while applying practical AI solutions to real-world operational challenges.

I've always been fascinated by how different cultures approach problems—and how the best solutions emerge when you combine analytical thinking, practical common sense, and genuine curiosity about the challenges you're trying to solve. I thrive on translating complex challenges into workable solutions, whether that's navigating global quality operations or exploring how machine learning might improve a business workflow.

What I'm Exploring & Building

AI & Data Science

Operational Knowledge & Domain Expertise

Current Role

I'm currently Head of Quality at a Life Science company in the Basel, Switzerland area. This role provides me with real-world context and practical challenges that inform my exploration of how AI and data science can solve operational problems—insights I'm developing as I transition toward independent AI consultancy.

AI & Data Science Journey

I'm on an intentional path to build genuine expertise in artificial intelligence and data science. In 2024, I completed:

These certifications built on my Master's degree in Applied Informatics (Vrije Universiteit Brussel, 1995-1997). I'm continuously learning through online courses, hands-on experimentation, and applying AI concepts to real operational scenarios. I'm still early in my technical AI journey, and am committed to developing the depth of understanding needed to be a credible guide and partner for others exploring AI.

What I find most valuable is the intersection of AI technical knowledge with operational reality—combining formal AI learning with decades of understanding how manufacturing, quality, and operations actually work. This perspective helps me recognize where AI can genuinely help solve problems, and where it's not the right tool.

Languages & Locations

I'm fluent in Dutch (native), English, and have practical knowledge of French and German (B1 level). I've lived and worked across Europe, China, and the United States, and I'm currently based in Basel, Switzerland.

Outside of Work

When I'm not thinking about quality systems or exploring AI concepts, you'll find me enjoying the beautiful landscapes of Switzerland, exploring new cuisines, and continuing to feed my curiosity about how things work—whether that's a manufacturing process, a data pattern, or a new technology.
